What’s To Love About Living in Cuenca, Ecuador

What’s To Love About Living in Cuenca, Ecuador

Introduction

What’s to love about living in Cuenca, Ecuador? Let me share how I came to find out.

It all started when Larry’s and my two unique dreams, specifically guiding each of us to move to Ecuador eight years ago, got our attention!

To rush hog wild into something like moving to another country in our circumstances would have been “coyote medicine.” From Road Runner cartoons, you probably know that coyotes often take risks that spell their doom.

First steps

Instead, we turned our attention to a possible first step, to research what it might be like to live in Ecuador to get a sense of the place. We always “knew” we would leave Virginia Beach at some point but didn’t know when or where the move would take us.

If we were to move, we would first have to be sure the dream supported our best interests. An applicable dream will withstand the test of scrutiny to discern its value. Ours did every step of the way over the next eighteen months until we landed at the Mariscal Lamar International Airport in Cuenca, Ecuador, exhausted from our move and in a daze.

A question that made all the difference

We expected culture shock, set a strong intention to hold the best perspective possible to bring balance to our first year in Cuenca. The intention was a question to no one in particular. Ask and we receive.

Our question was “What’s there to Love about Cuenca, Ecuador?” We paid close attention to the question and it didn’t take long to become a filter for our perspective where the answer(s) showed up left and right.

This is how we became experts on what there is to love about Cuenca, a multi-cultural city designated as UNESCO World Heritage Historic Site.

Diving in

This five-hundred-year-old mid-size city of 600,000 sits in a valley surrounded by the splendor of the Andean Mountains, with four very accessible rivers flowing through the city. Lush green linear parks for walking and exercising hug the river banks.

We love too that we don’t need a car. We can walk along the Rio Tomebamba across the city in an hour, or we can take a bus, tram, or taxi to our destinations, all inexpensive.

When you are 65 or older, the bus, tram, and flights originating in Ecuador are half-price! So are utilities!

I felt like a baby experiencing a new world during my first six months here. Because everything was new and different from what I was used to in the U.S.. It included countless little things mainly, and it was all made easier by the fact that the currency used here is the good old United States dollar, which is comforting for many reasons.

One afternoon, I fell from the sidewalk into the street, and an Ecuadorian woman ran over to me and helped me with the most tender loving care I’ve ever had from a stranger.

Another day, a baby fell from the back of an Ecuadorian mother who had him secured by a scarf, which had come loose. Before the baby hit the ground, women immediately appeared from all directions to help. One woman (not me) caught the baby before he hit the ground and held him in place while the mother tied her shawl tightly to secure him.

One day, Larry and I saved a blind man from walking out into fast-moving traffic. We feel reasonably confident we saved his life. There’s something about Cuenca that calls us to be present and aware, not only of ourselves but others. The community connection is palpable.

Things to do

The symphony and museums are free, and there is so much to do and explore without cost. Community parks are everywhere. Paraiso Park, a ten-minute walk from our house, is the largest in Cuenca and where two rivers, the Yanuncay and the Tomebamba, meet and merge into the Cuenca River, which eventually finds its way into the Amazon River (rivers flow East South of the Equator.)

The park has a lake and incredible landscaping. Acres and acres provide places to play games, exercise, run, and is a treasure to experience each time we go, alone or with friends.

More to love

We have never felt unsafe in Cuenca. Crime is rising due to stress and hardship, but still less than the average city with low crime rates. It always works to use common sense and to be aware of your surroundings no matter where you are. In Cuenca, one feels compelled to pay attention and be “present” by the uneven sidewalks alone!

The majestic mountains surround us 360 degrees, creating a cozy, protected sense of life. It’s easy to see why the Incans settled, lived, and worked just a few blocks from where we live, hundreds of years later.

There is so much to love about Cuenca and, in my few in-country travels, Ecuador in general. We are a deeply interconnected community, as it’s plain to see that what affects one of us affects all of us here.

When you don’t have family, your friends become your family, and we all have in common that we live in a foreign country that welcomes us with open arms and where it has never been made more clear that “it takes a village.”

Food

The food in Ecuador is rich in nutrients and delicious to the point where it is pretty standard for new ex-pats to remark on the exquisite flavor of vegetables of all things. GMOs are not allowed in the country, and beef is grass-fed.

Organic food is reasonably priced and inexpensive, plentiful, nutritious, and gorgeous to the eyes. I once bought lettuce that seemed to belong in a precious gem museum in the vegetable section. It was fifty cents and a foot across with crisp, deeply colored, beautiful, tightly packed leaves, each one a showpiece. It filled my entire shopping bag.

There is a lot of food here to love, both local and international. We consider ourselves so fortunate that we can also easily contribute to those less fortunate than ourselves. Clean air, pure water, nutritious food, and respectful housing and personal space are human rights, not privileges.

Did I mention the cost of living is half to a quarter of what it is in the U.S., depending on the item or service? What’s not to love about that?

No bugs!

No bugs! I love that Cuenca has no bugs of any consequence. I have seen one mosquito in seven years and have never heard of a snake spotted anywhere in Cuenca. This mostly bugless state is due to the high altitude in Cuenca, which is around 8,500 feet.

Finally, the weather is mild year-round, and all around much of the time, it feels like Shangri-la living in Cuenca.

Conclusion

At the root of what’s to love about living in Cuenca, Ecuador seems to be the power of the land and her heart-centered people, who have lived here for countless generations and welcome us into their hearts and community.

I could continue for days on end expressing the gratitude and love for dreaming a worthwhile life. We’re not special in any way. We all are capable of dreaming our best life. All we have to do is ask . . . trust and pay attention when the answer shows up.

Love from the land where the Condor and the Eagle meet.

My Love Affair with Astrology

My Love Affair with Astrology

Introduction

When it started.

My love affair with astrology started on my twenty-second birthday, I treated myself to my first horoscope interpretation by astrologer, Vicki Green, who was also my neighbor. The session with Vicki triggered a dramatic shift in my inner world, the second within three months.

Just before Vicki’s reading

My interest in astrology was piqued in July before my birthday. I housesat for a week or two during the summer at a beautiful riverfront colonial style home in Norfolk, Virginia. The house was immaculate, and everything, and I do mean everything was in its place, except for one item that was clearly “out of place” as if meant to get my attention.

Omens and messages for the soul.

It seemed that a book had been carefully placed on the highly-waxed-light- reflecting-without-a-single-speck-of-dust mahogany dining room table. It’s somewhat askew position got my attention. When something stands out like that, it can be considered an omen or message for Awareness expansion.

There is a River

In this case, when I read the title, There is a River: The Story of Edgar Cayce by Thomas Sugrue, the original biography of Edgar Cayce that explored Cayce’s life and work, my inner mystic was intensely intrigued. Once I started reading the book, I could not put it down.

I was appreciatively intrigued to everything written in the book, but several things stood out and one of them was astrology. This was a time the internet was not available to study astrology online as so many currently do. So, the stars were on my radar when my birthday rolled around October 1st. When my neighbor, Vicki, mentioned she was an astrologer, I treated myself to having her interpret my chart.

Having my chart done for the first time.

Sitting there across from Vicki and listening to her read my chart, I was mesmerized. I had not once in my life ever had anyone talked about “me” for any length of time, much less for three solid hours like she did. Vicki said for this first session, she would focus on my birth chart. As she spoke, I felt safe, nurtured and trusting, like I was being completely understood for the first time in my life by this astrologer I barely knew.

A life instruction book that keeps up with the times.

Finally! I found astrology to be a human life instruction book I could really use, one that would teach me how to navigate my life. I felt like I died and had gone to heaven again, so overjoyed at the experience was I. The introduction to my chart gave me the confidence from that point forward to follow my life as guided from within.

I have studied astrology ever since. Even after fifty years of paying deep attention to the study, I am still a student compared to what will come to Light around this simple yet cosmically profound subject.

Most of all, my Astrology chart interpretation pointed me to self-reflect on deeper aspects of my Being. These included profound gifts and traumatic patterns. Astrology prepared me for integrating non-dual existence and how to bring balance to life-navigation in my Earth Dream role as Kaye.

Helping others with Astrology

I started offering astrology charts to others, for free, of course. Let’s say I was obsessed and would do anyone’s chart who would let me. I would study them for hours and then when the time came, I was ready to share what I could see in their charts.

When I took a job at the Heritage Store in Virginia Beach, the owner offered to send a letter out to his mail-order customers offering my charts for sale, and I could keep all the money and could build a list of clients. Within months, I had mail order clients from all over the United States!

The more charts I did, the more I learned, and the more I fell in love with astrology, and the more I was referred. My business as an astrologer, blossomed, and I always felt like I was doing what I was supposed to do, because it was so easy, and at all sort of fell in my lap.

There’s even more to love about astrology.

Through astrology we learn how connected we are to something much greater than most of us know. We learn that life unfolds in specific cycles and patterns; some support us while others cause us to stop, look and listen to learn to flow with our charts rather than resist our connection to the cosmos.

If we listen to the wisdom of the planets and stars, it teaches us to love and accept our humanness, while discovering who we are and how to feel connected to all that is. The planets and stars guide our best decisions in any given circumstance, and as we increase our listening skills of these subtle but powerful relationships in our lives, confidence grows.

Astrology can show us clarity to better understanding our human relationships, too, and how to get the most out of them. If we’re fortunate and can look at the charts of those we love, we can better understand their motivation, strengths and weaknesses, too.

Finishing up.

Each child is born with something to give. The chart can point to one’s avocation or career path as soon as birth. Having this information can help give a child stimuli, which lines the child up to do what they love from the very beginning. A world that does this will see a huge change in one generation.

Here’s hoping you enjoyed my blog on my love affair with Astrology. If I missed something, and you love astrology, too, let me know in the Comments. Thank you.

Love and Gratitude for the Planets and Stars,

Eight Tips for Wisdom Seekers

Eight Tips for Wisdom Seekers

Introduction

Eight tips for wisdom seekers was written years ago, but recently I was perusing them and musing whether they still stand the test of time in my heart and mind. Of course, being the evolutionary perfectionist I am, they needed tweaking, but you be the judge. Without further ado, then, hey ho, let’s dive in.

One — Divinity Identity/You are not your body or your mind.

You are living in an illusion of individual Consciousness, a spark of vibrational life that appears in a world of dreams via the intent of the Love Consciousness, or your pure, essentially rooted Divinity Identity. Your body-mind-individuality assembles within your Consciousness, which causes your senses to animate with your filtered human perspective, which, no matter how evolved you are, presents limitations when navigating life in perfect Balance and Understanding.

Two — Your thoughts and feelings are not you.

You entered the world of form with a mind containing two tools. One tool is your thoughts for navigating and making sense of this human dream. The other tool is your feelings, which, when you pay attention to their gifts, let you know how connected you are with your Source. Thoughts and feelings seem vitally important in deciphering all the sensory input you encounter in this world of form. The Truth is that when these two tools are in balance with each other, so is your connection with your Source of Being, i.e., Love Consciousness. So, you can see, they are tools, but they are not you. You are much greater than anything you could think or feel temporarily. Use the tools, and let go of identifying with them. They are not you.

Three — You are not what you eat.

As stated above, you are not your body. However, the body is your Earthly vehicle, your temporary sacred temple of your indwelling Consciousness. Respecting this Reality is the best way to achieve optimum health and harmony. Edgar Cayce indicated that if you, for the most part, are mindful of maintaining harmonious “assimilation and elimination,” i.e., the digestive tract, the rest of your health has the best chance of being in harmony.

Ignore what you eat at your risk; sooner or later, you will most likely experience physical discomfort and suffering, physically, emotionally, and mentally. It’s hard to remember Love Consciousness when your body temple is plugged up and in distress.

You are not what you eat, but pretending you are will give you the best outcome. Health and diet are an arena of life to plunge into childlike curiosity and explore what foods serve the Love that you are. Do the research. Learn what to eat to serve and optimize your body temple.

Four — You do not die.

One day, your body will fall away, much like taking your coat off, yet who you are will remain. You will almost immediately have a greater awareness than you ever had as the human you are now, and this new state quickly expands. It is because your body- mind no longer exist to contain a piece of all that you are.

Further, you will experience considerable freedom, one without end, and a lightness of being that is filled with joy, Love, and everything that is grander than your wildest imagination. You do not, can not, and will not die.

There is no such thing as Death of what and who we are, and it’s a beautiful thing. We do not have to be afraid to die because we don’t. Humanity, for the most part, remains, at best, wholly misinformed and, at worst, duped about this critical detail. Tens of thousands of us whose bodies died came back to life to tell the same Truth. We do not die.

Five — Pain is necessary in this world of form. It’s the suffering that is optional.

Physical, emotional, and mental pain is a guide, suggesting action: a possible call for help, a change in behavior, and/or your perspective. On some level, you are called to relax and get flexible.

The pain gets more intense when you try to resist or ignore these messages. Refusing to accept, see and acknowledge the pain you’re in is suppression, which causes dysfunction, stress, and suffering. The first step is to immediately pay attention to what is happening.

If it is a physical pain you are dealing with and it’s an emergency, get help, then relax and breathe into the pain. If the pain is emotional or mental, remember this. Somebody can’t trigger if you don’t have a trigger.

If you do get triggered, seek to make peace with the underlying trauma, a unique skill-set to help stop much of the suffering in your life. At first, healing trauma in your life might seem impossible because it can sometimes feel like there is so much of it. It helps to stay present and work through things as they show up. Loving yourself more in this way will release trauma, drama, and triggered events and decrease suffering.

Six — You create your Reality and are entirely responsible for your creations.

As a spiritual being, you are very powerful and create your Heart’s desires. Desires are Sourced out of the world of Love Consciousness and then interpreted in the world of form.

You have a birthright that includes your abilities to discern your surroundings, think and/or feel as you wish, and decide your direction based on your desires and internal Guidance. Since you are the Divine Self, you are sacred and are due respect, and so are all the other spiritual beings living in bodies of form just like you.

Seven — You are subject to the consequences of your actions.

True in thought and deed, every decision has consequences, and no one is immune. For every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction. This Universal Law helps to maintain balance throughout the World Dream.

If you are fortunate, you wise up through trial and error, mostly involving the consequences of thoughts and actions. Practice makes perfect, but not always. You can do your very best and still have terrible consequences, and these things happen, but mostly if one is mindful, one can enjoy the fruits of one’s labor.

Eight — People will be who they are.

You can’t change others no matter how much you want them to change to suit your vision of the world. People tend to act in familiar ways, and only with desire, personal vision, and intent can they/you change.

Expecting others to change their behaviors or thoughts is a well-deformed outcome, especially if you are attached to the change(s) sought. And, what if the person does change? What other changes may come with the one you wanted? You cannot control others; they will continue to be who they are, as will you.

Conclusion

The preceding tips can be vital guidelines for making your Earthly experience more fun, pleasurable, and harmonious. I hope you enjoyed these eight tips for wisdom seekers. See you next week.

Usually, I enjoy writing in the third person plural, but today, I decided to leave the article written in the original second person singular. I was acutely aware of the missing “me” in “you,” i.e., “we.” We’re all in this together, this common humanity. No one is ever left out.

These eight tips for wisdom seekers belong to us all. I hope I didn’t come off as preaching to the choir as I wondered if I might and how you feel about it.

Feel free to leave your comments.

Love and Wisdom,

Zen Tarot Reading for Mercury Retrograde

Zen Tarot Reading for Mercury Retrograde

Introduction

Inspiration guided me to offer a Zen Tarot Reading for Mercury Retrograde in this week’s blog. It’s a good time for contemplation while flowing with this planetary retrograde motion. It began this past Friday, September 9th, and ends on October 2nd. After that, it usually takes a few days to normalize (whatever that means!) as Mercury moves out of its shadow.

It will retrograde backward through the signs Libra and then Virgo, which call us to seek balance, harmony, discernment, and practicality when looking in the “mirrors” of our lives. If we see a warped reflection, we know we’re in the funhouse instead of on a steady path.

We’ll use Osho’s Zen Tarot Deck created by Deva Padma for this reading. Each image in these cards is intended to pierce the questioner’s mind with an eye-popping awareness that can galvanize increased inner freedom.

Here’s the question for our purposes.

What will help us to discern balance in the “mirrors” of our lives over these next three weeks?

The Reading

The Significator – The Master

Any perceived mastery over others (or us) is short-lived. There are countless distractions in this life, and this is one. Recognizing the parasitic life-taking nature of this kind of so-called power in all its forms is essential for healing and understanding our Real Power, which is within us. Sometimes, we have to see who we are not, to see who we are. This powerful significator shows up in our cards to let us know that it is time for us to master superpowerful perspectives and discernment.

Where We Are Right Now – Courage

We’re like the flower in the card right now, and while we may seem surrounded by a harsh, grey world of stone-like egoic tendencies, the Love, Light, and Life of who we are shines through the cracking façade of the ego’s crumbling false reality. It takes courage to be vulnerable and let our Light shine against all odds, but when we do, the world around us lights up, too.

What to Integrate for the Best Possible Outcome – Harmony

The woman’s forehead and heart connect by healing energy in the card, stimulating a worthy vision for her more profound harmony and balanced discernment. The immense power it takes to support her worthwhile endeavor reflects our unfolding. This card shows the path to take that serves the best interest of the outcome of the reading question

Cohesion between our conscious navigating mind and our connecting subconscious mind creates cohesiveness, which is the key to an inner alignment and harmonious manifestation in our world dream.

The Foundation and Unseen – Ordinariness

This card indicates our general subconscious health in the matter. We understand how to flow in a relaxed state and be Present in our extraordinary life in even the most ordinary experiences. When others bring drama to our door, we can stay calm and help them relax; our appreciation for the everyday opportunity increases our steadfast compassion.

Recent Past – Existence

We came into human existence and, up until now, are still here! We know that we are a microcosm and the macrocosm in our True Existence. And so we share All That Is and the Love Consciousness from which we are all made.

The Conscious Navigating Mind – Participation

Participation mirrors the state of our navigating mind that we are not alone in our existence but are cooperative players with others. This positional image balances with the relaxed and flowing subconscious mind of the Ordinariness card.

We are aligning in a spirit of cooperative participation, which supports the Integration position (above) for our best outcome. We are ready to become active participants and to be of service to All That Is.

Near Future (This next week to a month.) – Slowing Down

How perfect a Near Future image for this reading! Our cards suggest we slow down, become more mindful these next three weeks, and harvest thoughts that navigate any rough seas ahead with mental/emotional stillness. The images suggest we spend time gathering and directing our ideas in ways already discussed in the reading. Sometimes, we think too much, but now we must take time for mindful critical thinking about how we might best move ahead after Mercury goes Direct.

Our Perspective of Our Selves – Suppression

Here, we see we are holding back our Light in some way. It helps to ask the question and seriously contemplate. “How can I release my trauma and shine my Light?” It’s time to let go of holding on to life-taking influences and feel the freedom we came here to experience. It’s hard to be of service to others when there are places we are suppressing Love for ourselves. Suppression (of what is Real) is a temporary state, and we are called to wake up from it. This means seeing that all the life-taking energy and influences we feel has to be let go.

Hope or Fear – Compromise

This position points out two sides of the same coin. The fear is we may have to keep compromising what’s important to us, and the hope is that we won’t. Hope and fear are a duality that disappears under the Light of Reality. The True Self does not hope or fear. It understands and has compassion for these states of stuck energy.

Environment or Guidance – Success

Larry and I are both White Metal Tigers in our Chinese Horoscopes, so the idea of riding one like in the image appeals to us. Some see this position in the cards as Guidance from Angels or other Beings of Service. If we look at it this way, we’re each guided that this is a time of celebration and success for our endeavors, to keep going, and to celebrate our feline virtues. Purr! Meow! Roar!

Outcome – We Are the World

How wonderful that this Mercury Retrograde marks a step toward global Unity and Oneness. As the egoic lies about who we are collapse, a grassroots effort rooted in Love is rising to heal our humanity. We can do this! We can dissolve the dualities that have become full of tension and instead find what Really unites us.

Integration

This beautiful Major Arcana outcome to our reading portrays the ideal relaxing of opposites, where peace, balance, harmony, creativity, wholeness, and universal law guides us for a change. Imagine that. We master alchemists and lovers of ourselves, and humanity are “doing the doing.” This reading shows our beautiful like-mindedness that brings renewal. It’s already started. Keep putting one foot in front in front of the other.

Wrapping It Up

I hope you liked this Zen Tarot Reading for Mercury Retrograde today’s reading, and please share it with those you feel will be uplifted or helped in their healing journey. Add your comments if you like. No pressure.

Love, Light, and Laughter in Zen,
Kaye

Lucid Dreaming, Creative Navigation, and Self-Realization for You

Lucid Dreaming, Creative Navigation, and Self-Realization for You

Part Four:

Introduction

Lucid dreaming, creative navigation, and self-realization for you end this four-part dream series. I initially planned the first, second, and third blogs about the value of remembering, writing down, and getting the most out of our dreams. But after posting the second one, I was meditating and heard the quiet voice within my intuition whisper. “Add one more. There’s more. Write four. Go deeper.”

Questions, concerns, and possibilities for the fourth blog bubbled to the surface of my writing mind. It’s been a thrill to revisit and remember that we can wake up in our dreams and choose among infinite choices. But where to go from here?

Any paths we decide to take in dreams expose us to inner guidance we can’t access in the construct of daily life. But if we up our dream game with consistent application, we can learn to bring balance and power to support the best direction in life for ourselves, those we love, our community, and humanity. I started getting excited all over again at the potential each of us carries with us to affect the whole. So, I decided to flesh some things out here.

It remains my core understanding that everything is here to wake us up to our True Identity in Love Consciousness while detaching from all that isn’t that. In the meantime, we can also learn how to “see, be and do Love” in human life. One by one, and as a community of dreamers, we can revive our gifts to dream of a new and beautiful world for ourselves and all.

There are no limits. There is no better time than now to empower ourselves and our dreams. The Hawaiians believe that all power comes from within in each and every present moment. We can recognize and realize the truth of this understanding through lucid dreams, creative navigation, and self-realization.

“Sleeping and dreaming,” says Andrew Holecek, author and spiritual teacher, “offer nightly opportunities for spiritual awakening. When you know how to wake up in your dreams, you transform sleep into a portal to the most profound experiences of reality.

Lucid Dreaming Ideas

Pretend you’re suddenly lucid for the tenth time. You’ve had some fun exploring lucidity, traveling, connecting with others, asking for insight on your work or health, and even releasing a trauma that’s been dogging you for years. Now, you’ll want to set up expanded directions for dream navigation.

What follows are ideas to prime the pump of creating with your dreams and daytime application. These are only a few out of countless possibilities. I hope they will stimulate some uniquely creative ideas to investigate in your dreams.

Creative Navigation

Possible Intentions to

  1. NEW healing modalities for the body/mind that work for most people.
  2. Clever ways to grow food and restore our soil, air, water, spirits, etc.
  3. Develop ways to ascertain the integrity of leaders and aspiring leaders.
  4. Meet master teachers of any subject that interests you and interview them.
  5. Go where you can serve others with your gifts and see where it takes you.
  6. Find “your” tribe.
  7. Probe whether there are alien life forms that help us Earthlings.
  8. The best way for you to share the true power of lucid dreaming.
  9. What do you need to know that you don’t know you need to know?

Dream questing elevates your awareness, and you quickly become a mind-bending creative expression in your sleep and everyday life, too.

There are no limits to the possibilities within. We can make lucid dreaming a pathway to heal our deeply divided society and create solutions to all our problems.

Self-Realization

Delving into my dreams to write these blogs, I eventually asked the question directly. “Can lucid dreaming help us to recognize and realize the Love Consciousness we are?” And the answer is an emphatic yes.

Even though our dreams aren’t who we are, they can help with our instruction and take us to it through dream meditation, yoga, and seeking answers to deeper quests such as “Show me my next step in Awakening.” “I want to experience Love Consciousness (or whatever term suits your heart) now.” “Take me to where I can hear directly from Jesus, Buddha, Kwan Yin, or another favorite self-realized being as to what might help me in my quest.”

Santata Gamana states in his book, Lucid Dreaming: The Path of Non-Dual Dream Yoga. Realizing Enlightenment through Lucid Dreaming

“Transcending lucidity of dreams into lucidity of consciousness itself, regardless of its current state (wakefulness or dreaming), is the lucidity of the gods. That’s our destination.”

(We do not currently make income from recommended books, links or websites, etc. This blog has been a pure gift of my heart to yours. This could change, but it’s not the case now — so that you know.)

Conclusion

Today, we explored more than a few benefits of interpreting our dreams, how to remember them, what lucid dreams are and how to get started. In this fourth and final blog in this series on dreams, we explored the possibilities of getting more out of lucid dreaming, creative navigation, and self-realization for you.

Through writing this blog for you, I felt a call to action where lucid dreaming is concerned. I want to open a new chapter of lucid dream incubation and exploration in the direction written about in the blogs. Let’s pay more attention to our dreams to see how they can wake us up to what is most important and bring balance to life all around.

Thank you for your comments.

Love and May All Your Best Dreams Come True,
Kaye

Seven Advantages of Lucid Dreaming Plus!

Seven Advantages of Lucid Dreaming Plus!

Part Three of Four

Introduction

Last week, my blog examined Seven Tips to Remember your Dreams. This week, we will investigate Seven Advantages of Lucid Dreaming Plus!

I was twenty-three, and several times over several weeks, I found myself in a dream series where each dream was similar. A raging demon would chase me through the streets of a small town.

It was almost the same every time, except I would take different streets than before to get away, which I always managed to do, barely. I would wake still feeling the terror, his hatred pouring out at me, and even the foul smell of the demon’s dark spirit. It was a terrifying nightmare, one of very few I’ve had in my life.

The nightmares haunted me, and after a few of them, I realized something needed to be done. The nightmare guided me to look into the nature of dreams for solutions, so I did some research.

Research meant to read a few books on dreams to learn more. The book’s name escapes me fifty years later. Still, I remember reading about the Senoi tribe, who live in Malaysia and are known to have a healthy society with a rare, almost nonexistent crime rate or even psychological imbalances.

Their secret is a community that actively works with their dreams from childhood forward and practices peace to the point where neighboring cannibalistic and violent tribes feel the Senoi peace includes special protection and are left alone. A lot could be gleaned from the Senoi.

I read where it would be beneficial for me to confront the demon, so I sent an intention just like that to somehow be able to do that. The next time I dreamed of the monster, I “became lucid.” Lucid dreaming means to become aware that you are dreaming while still in the dream. Suddenly, I had conscious choices of what to do. I remembered all the streets in the town from prior nightmares, so knew how to double back on the demon. I picked up a can of gasoline along the way and opened the lid.

When the monster came around the corner, I threw the gasoline on him and lit him on fire with a lighter that my lucidity summoned. The demon went up in flames. Poof! I never had that dream or met that monster again!

Besides increasing confidence and problem-solving skills, lucid dreams are helpful in seeing fear lodged in the subconscious mind. There are many other benefits, too. Ultimately, lucid dreams increase Self-Awareness in that it becomes easier to translate being awake in our nighttime dreams over to seeing waking life as a dream in which we can also become lucid. More later on the latter.

Here are seven more benefits of lucid dreaming:

1. Lucid dreaming is safe and easy to learn.*

Lucid dreaming is safe and easy to learn. First, you get to practice in the safety of your home, room, and bed. It is an excellent pathway to connect our conscious mind with our subconscious mind and bring balance between the two, which always results in a deeper connection with our True Authentic Self.

*If you experience psychotic symptoms, you may not be a candidate for lucid dreaming without guidance. Check with your qualified health care professional if this is the case. Always use common sense.

2. Lucid dreaming increases Self-confidence.

When I became lucid and decided to become a monster slayer in my nightmare, I turned the tables on fear and rose to the occasion. I felt empowered in a way I never had before after that dream.

I could go on with similar stories I’ve lived and heard along the way, but while these may be inspiring, the real treasure is waking up in your dream. The direct experience increases self-confidence beyond any motivational mirrors that get you hungry for dream mastery.

3. Lucid dreaming can increase creativity and problem-solving skills

Let’s say you’re dreaming you’re at your job but have nothing to do. You wander about looking for a task, but it’s all dead ends. If you become lucid in a dream like that, you could have any number of ideas about how to proceed.

Look around for options, and because you are looking for them, you find them. You explore the one that attracts you the most. You wake up in the morning inspired by the inner dream wisdom that guides you to a different career; you have also seen why you’re so bored at work. It’s one big dead end.

This is just one example of how these dreams increase creativity and solve problems.

4. Lucid dreaming can be used for personal growth

Let’s say you want to make a shift in your perspective or a habit that gets in the way of your best health. Dreams can help, especially when you become lucid and can research possible compatible avenues for success in your dreams.

5. Lucid dreaming can help you deal with anxiety, stress, and fear and improve your perspective and attitude.

Lucid dreaming, by its very nature, helps us to relax in the present moment. Think about it. It is impossible to feel tension, anxiety, stress, and fear when relaxed. 😊

6. Lucid dreaming is a great way to have fun and experience new things

Once, I dreamed I saw a girlfriend riding a brontosaurus in the woods near her house. I became lucid in the dream, and asked if I could have a ride, too! Riding that great creature was something I would never have gotten to do were I not dreaming, yet it feels like I’ve done that. Lucid dreaming can be fantastic fun because you can dream fearlessly and do things you would never do in the daytime.

7. Lucid dreaming can help you improve your life outside of dreams

When we dare to explore other dimensions of our lives, our worldview expands, and it is easier to stop taking ourselves so seriously. Dreams are much like meditation, which is also a form of dreaming, as they both assist us in opening to what’s Real in the Greater Sense of Reality. We calm down, relax, laugh more, and begin to open to the idea that our whole life, inside and out, is a dream, and we can not only become lucid in our nighttime dreams but also in our daytime dream.

How to increase your chances of having a lucid dream

I love what Krista Hillis writes in her blog at https://www.thealternativedaily.com/how-to-practice-lucid-dreaming/. The blog covers nine thoughtful steps to help you begin to lucid dream. Nine steps may not be necessary and too overwhelming to start, so if this is the case, pick and choose a few to get started.

If you can only do one in my studies, I would recommend looking at your hands several times a day and asking yourself if you are dreaming.  The idea is to do this enough that you will subconsciously repeat the act in your dreams, and when you do, you will see that you are dreaming and wake up in your dream.

Conclusion

We’ve explored seven advantages of lucid dreaming, from how easy it can be with earnest efforts to the confidence you receive when you can solve problems and create the life you know is yours. Clicking on the link to Krista’s blog on lucid dreaming practice opens your door to the actual course of action. Two blogs in one get you inspired and off to a good start regarding lucid dreaming.

Believe it or not, lucid nighttime dreaming is a worthwhile beginning to loosening old mind-models and waking up in the world dream. We’ll delve into this topic in next week’s Part Four, your Bonus Blog in the series.
